BRYAN TALBOT'S PARALLEL LIVES
Earlier this year, Bryan Talbot began participating in his web site's message board. In response to a question about future projects, he posted the following:

"I've pencilled and am inking a one-off issue of the new DC Vertigo series FABLES written by Bill Willingham called BAG O' BONES and set during the American Civil War in the Deep South, in the Bayou swamps of Louisiana (tons of research). It'll be FABLES number 11. Unfortunately it'll only see print next March!

I'm also developing 3 graphic novel concepts, one a fantasy story, one based in Sunderland, and the third will be the next Arkwright story."

LOS BROS GET SPEEDY
Kim Thompson reports on the Comics Journal message board that Love & Rockets vol. 2 #5 has been sent to the printers and will debut at the Comic-Con International in San Diego. This comes as a complete shock to L&R readers everywhere, who are now liable to get greedy.

SWIG: CALL FOR PAPERS
The Scottish Word and Image Group has issued a call for papers for a May 2003 conference focusing on dreaming, imagination and creativity. Papers must "primarily address the interaction of word and image" within a chosen topic area. Proposals are due by November 29, 2002.

BELL'S ALTERNATIVE APPEAL
Publisher Jeff Mason recently let slip that mini-comics creator Gabrielle Bell has been added to Alternative Comics' roster of artists. Bell was listed among Alternative's artists in a recent press release announcing the publisher's book distribution deal with Diamond Comics Distributors. Bell had been spotted at the Alternative Comics table late in the day at MoCCA, selling copies of her various mini-comics.

SUCKING OFF SUCKDOG

MAZZUCHELLI TK
Covering an otherwise dismal comic book convention for Comicon.com, Heidi "Ace" MacDonald reports that David Mazzuchelli "has finally started work on a long-delayed graphic novel, which will be published by a mainstream publisher."
