MUSÉE COME, MUSÉE GOA widely distributed Associated Press story reported on the opening of the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, California this past weekend. Despite comparisons to Graceland, the Center is conceived as a functioning research center, with a library and extensive archive. More quietly, Mort Walker's International Museum of Cartoon Art officially closed its doors on July 31 after prolonged financial difficulties. According to the News-Journal wire service, the Museum's collections are in storage as organizers seek a new venue, preferably one with institutional support. Lowjinx #4: It's a Wise Child is set to debut at this year's SPX and will feature childhood artwork by Nick Bertozzi, Ivan Brunetti, Tony Consiglio, Sam Henderson, Megan Kelso, James Kochalka and several other artists. Wolfgang further adds: "Graced with a strikingly beautiful cover by Kevin Scalzo (with a bonus back cover by Johnny Ryan), each copy's cover has been HAND COLORED with CRAYONS by ACTUAL CHILDREN! AND BECAUSE WE LOVE CHEAP-ASSED GIMMICKS AS MUCH AS YOU, the first 100 copies have a box of crayons stapled right to the back cover, so you can color the rest!! HOLY SHIT!"
