PEKAR, DARCY: CARTOON TUNESOhio Beacon Journal columnist David Giffels chats briefly with Harvey Pekar about "When Love Goes Wrong," a jazz compilation including liner notes by Pekar, in the paper's February 9 edition. The CD is "a collection of melancholy jazz standards;" Pekar calls it "the musical boot to kick us when we're already down." Meanwhile, Bop Tart records announces the April release of a best-of Dame Darcy CD. "The CD has murder ballads, sea shanty's, and lots of Dame Darcy rarities, like the theme to Turn of the Century, and her work with Banjo Pete. The CD is epic, it spans from music that she recorded at age ten, and goes all the way to what she's working on now."
